I currently do not have any time, either for my LJ, or for my series, nor for anything else. Maybe it's the damn holiday season, maybe just in my chronic laziness.
Anyway, 5 minutes ago I stumbled across a sheet of paper with the big headline "Top 15 - Animation", and noted with dismay that I somehow forget to post the list at the end. Shame on my head. To avoid further delays, mache ich mal eben schnell weiter, obwohl ich eigentlich längst im Bett hätte sein sollen.

Amerika im Jahr 1957. Atomhysterie und kalter Krieg sind auf dem Höhepunkt. Nachdem die UdSSR mit "Sputnik" den ersten Satelliten ins All geschossen haben, herrscht in den USA eine extreme Paranoia. Nur der neunjährige Hogarth Hughes is excited: he has long dreamed of an encounter with aliens. As argued, a drunken fisherman, he saw a meteor storm, from which a gigantic creatures had gone ashore, Hogarth is the only one who believes him. He sets off immediately and take the forest to a 15-meter high metal robot who, despite his frightening appearance basically naive and dangerous. Hogarth befriends him and hides him in a nearby junkyard. Of course it is not possible to hide the huge, metal-eating robot permanently, and soon the government sends the agent Kent Mansley, who will investigate the incidents. The still suffers from paranoia, and scents alternately, a Russian secret weapon or a threat of alien invasion. With fatal consequences ..
"The Iron Giant" is the second and final feature-length animated film from Warner Studios. Which is a shame, because with the "Giant" was the studio and director Brad Bird ("The Incredibles") is not only a really good movie, but also a bold political statement for freedom, human rights and tolerance as the American cinema rarely produces. Aware of the plot was laid in the 50's, when the reactionary U.S. Senator McCarthy (Anders) Atlas Cold introduced as public enemies. Each scene of the film is against violence and the use of weapons, and that without the plot or the characters to vernachlässigen.Der "giant" is a big, important, and above all courageous film, which unfortunately went down completely at the box office because it simultaneously with the Disney hit "Tarzan" was started. For me he is one of the best videos ever.
The film was awarded in 1999/2000 with a total of 19 film awards, including 9 Annie Awards.
